How To Play Ochos Locos
- Shuffle the deck and deal seven cards to each player.
- Place the remaining cards in a pile in the center of the table, face down.
- Flip over the top card of the pile and place it face up next to the pile. This card will be the starting card for the game.
- The player to the left of the dealer goes first. They can play any card from their hand that matches either the number or suit of the starting card.
- If a player cannot play a card, they must draw one card from the pile. If they can play the drawn card, they may do so. Otherwise, play moves to the next player.
- If a player plays an eight, they can choose any suit for the next player to match. The next player must then play a card of that suit, or another eight to change the suit again.
- The game continues in this way, with players taking turns playing cards and drawing if necessary, until one player has no cards left in their hand.
- That player is the winner of the round and earns one point for each card left in their opponents' hands. The game continues with a new round, and the first player to reach a predetermined number of points (usually 100) wins the game.
Keeping Score
Players earn one point for each card left in their opponents' hands at the end of each round. The first player to reach a predetermined number of points (usually 100) wins the game.
