How To Play Duchess

  1. Shuffle the deck and deal each player 13 cards.
  2. Place the remaining cards in a pile in the center of the table.
  3. The player to the left of the dealer starts the game by playing a card from their hand.
  4. Each player in turn plays a card, following suit if possible.
  5. The player who plays the highest card of the suit wins the trick and leads the next round.
  6. If a player cannot follow suit, they may play any card.
  7. The player who wins the trick leads the next round.
  8. The game continues until all 13 tricks have been played.
  9. The player with the most tricks at the end of the game is the winner.
