How To Play Trash

  1. Shuffle the deck of cards and deal 10 cards to each player.
  2. Place the remaining cards in a draw pile in the center of the table.
  3. Flip over the top card of the draw pile and place it face-up next to the draw pile. This card is the first card in the discard pile.
  4. The player to the left of the dealer goes first. They must play an Ace or a card with the same suit as the face-up card in the discard pile.
  5. If a player cannot play a card, they must draw a card from the draw pile. If they can play the drawn card, they may do so. Otherwise, they must keep the drawn card and end their turn.
  6. Players continue taking turns in a clockwise direction, playing cards in the correct order (Ace to King) or cards with the same suit as the face-up card in the discard pile.
  7. If a player plays a King, the discard pile is cleared and the player who played the King starts a new discard pile with any card of their choice.
  8. The first player to get rid of all their cards wins the round. The other players score points based on the cards remaining in their hand.
  9. The game is played in rounds, and the first player to win a set number of rounds (usually 3-5) wins the game.

Keeping Score

Players score points based on the cards remaining in their hand at the end of each round. Numbered cards are worth their face value, face cards are worth 10 points, and Aces are worth 15 points. The first player to reach a set number of points (usually 100) loses the game.
